I could not think of a more fitting quote than that to go with this post. As some may know this bride is truly a special girl and one that is very dear to my heart. At birth she was born with a defected heart so throughout her life she was in and out of the hospital undergoing several surgeries. The most admirable thing about Mandee is she hardly ever complained, even still to this day. She is the strongest, bravest and most caring woman I know. She truly is a gift, an angel.

 

At the age of 18, just days after graduating high school Mandee got the call to receive a heart. The heart transplant was her only hope. We can all recognize the sadness that goes along with organ donation, but its like a bittersweet- sad and painful for one family to happy and joy for another family. It definitely was an experience I will always remember..pain and joy all expressed at one time. Fortunately, the donor family, (who truly are angels themselves) Mandee and her family have united and now share a beautiful loving happy life together as family. This union could not be more beautiful or blessed!

 

So as the years went Mandee's biggest hopes and dreams where to find the man who would equal her and live the life she has visioned. This is one gift she is so grateful for...to find true love and get married to the man of her dreams! I was truly honored to be Mandee's hair and makeup artist and share one of the most important days in her life.

Meet Miss Bridget, her and I go way back to high school days (well that's just a few years ago hehe). Anyway, Bridget had contacted me with some interest in this amazing project she is involved with and was excited to share she could utilize my services of a hair and makeup specialist to help. Needless to say she didn't need to beg!! So a couple months ago we all met at Day Break and had this wonderful photo session with the very talented Matt Spencer http://www.mattspencerphotography/
This was a really long day of shooting, but as you can see with these beautiful pictures it was well worth it. The energy that fulfilled us that day is one I will never forget as it was the birth of new journeys for most everyone involved with this shoot. I can not wait for this project to come full circle, until then enjoy the radiance of my beautiful friend Bridget and Matt's amazing photography.

In Honor of Mothers Day...Ms. Sandie

Sandie had this wonderful idea that she wanted to give her three daughters pictures of her as a gift. She had been on the quest of changing her life and after months of dedication and several pounds and inches shed. She was ready to show off her new self with a new makeover as well. How fun it was to listen to her journey and what transpired this new personal growth in her. I can only hope her daughters find the value and love that their mother had dedicated not only to herself but to the angels in her life. I was touched by this story and thought is was so fitting as we approach Mother's Day this Sunday. As a mother myself, I could not ask for a better gift than being the mother of my two beautiful children. My children are my most precious blessings. Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms.

Steve Mackley with Mackley Designer Portraiture called with interest in my Makeup and Hair Artistry for 28 girls who are all a part of the Skyview Drill Team. For two days my assistant and I did hair and makeup for their personal photo session and team picture. The pictures posted are of the girls who wanted full airbrush makeup and hair artistry.
